The mission of the Tim Orth Memorial Foundation is to assist, financially or otherwise, children (birth through age 18) in the West Central Minnesota area who are facing substantial medical expenses incurred as a result of serious accident or illness.
Recipients look to the Foundation for hope as well as financial assistance. Recipients are chosen through an application process and each request is reviewed and considered. The Foundation assists families with medical expenses or special needs equipment for their child that has not been covered by other means or insurance. We receive applications for diagnoses that cannot even be correctly pronounced, simply translated to an illness or injury such as leukemia, brain injury, birth defects, cystic fibrosis, downs syndrome, heart disease and many more.
As the Foundation, what we do know and understand is that the need is great and that every donation, large or small, becomes the gift of hope for these children. The goal is to help these children become as healthy as possible with an improvement in the quality of their lives. Our “Jam the Gym” night events have become a continued and ongoing source of compassion and inspiration. Many of our recipient families return each year saying that the spirit of the night gives them a sense of re-charge energy to return home to continue their daily battles and challenges. As one recipient Mom said with tears in her eyes, “To me, it’s like receiving a million big hugs from a gym full of people reminding me that I am not in this alone, we have not been forgotten and that people really do care about my child and the journey we are on. For one night, a few short hours, we “get to forget” and just be a part of the fun. It puts a smile in our hearts as well as on our faces. We are so very grateful.”
