FAQs

I know of a family that could use some help from TOMF. How should I connect them?
Please refer the family to our website to fill out a “Become a Recipient” form.  You can also contact us with their contact information and we can reach out to the family.
If my child is a TOMF recipient, can it remain private?
Yes, it is not a requirement for your family to take part in a “Jam the Gym” event. If a family is in need of financial help, but doesn’t want their child’s photo or name to be public or take part in the “Jam the Gym” events, they can still receive help.
Who has TOMF helped?
TOMF has helped 300+ families overcome difficult challenges brought on by illness or accident. Some of these challenges include complications due to cancer, brain injury, automobile accidents, premature birth and numerous other diagnoses we cannot even pronounce.

A few of the children we have helped are listed below:

Mia, 4 – Wilms Tumor
Addison, 4 months – Spina Bifida
McKenzie, 5 – Epilepsy
Philip, 13 – Rare Muscular Dystrophy
Sara, 14 – Leukemia

Taylor – Premature Birth
Tate, 12 – Stage III Lymphoma
Luke, 6 – Brain Tumor
Mason, 10 – Angelman Syndrome
Levi, 6 – Congenial Heart Disease

What other resources are available to families who are facing medical and financial challenges besides TOMF?

When the Tim Orth Memorial Memorial Foundation cannot help with your needs, or help is needed beyond what TOMF can provide, other organizations may be able to assist. Some options include:

  • Ronald McDonald House – Upper Midwest
  • Common Cup in Hutchinson & Glencoe or similar organizations
  • Local Lion’s Club or similar organizations
  • Social Services – Contact your local County office
  • Family Medical Leave Act – Talk to your Employer
  • United Ways of Minnesota
  • United Community Action Partnership (UCAP)
  • Cleaning for a Reason
  • Local churches
  • Local Food Shelf
Can a child be a TOMF recipient more than once?
No, due to the needs of many families in our area, a child can only be a TOMF recipient once.
